Steaming and Using Herbal Compresses

Thank you for purchasing herbal compresses!

The information on this page is for your education, information, and includes my general directions for safely steaming compresses and using these lovely bodywork super tools!

Please use your own discretion for the best and safest way to steam and use them in your own situation. Your steam pot may vary from the one I use and your massage practice or home set may be quite different.

Always use caution while heating the compresses with steam. Open the pot lid away from you and keep your hands out of the steam. Trust me, it sucks to get a steam burn during a Thai massage session!

This short video shows the basic setup of steaming an herbal compress.

The steam pot is a “Fry Daddy” by Presto.

The compresses in this video are my handmade ones. Commercial ones with be the same, although they made need more time to steam or longer submersion to thoroughly wet the herbs.

Please do not boil the compress!

They need to warm, soften and become moist from STEAM, not boiling. If you boil, you will just be making tea and the medicinal qualities of the herbs will now be in the bottom of your pot.

Don’t drink the compress tea!
