What Is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on technique that works with the subtle rhythms of your central nervous system. Using light touch, a practitioner works with the tissues surrounding your brain and spinal cord to help release tension patterns your body may have been holding for years.
It's quiet work. There's no deep pressure, no forcing anything to happen.
For many clients, that's exactly the point — this isn't about pushing harder. It's about finally letting go.
Why Try Craniosacral Therapy
If you've tried massage, therapy, or willpower alone and still feel like something's holding you back — physically or otherwise — craniosacral therapy may offer a different kind of entry point. Many clients report:
Relief from chronic tension headaches and migraines
Better, deeper sleep
A calmer nervous system and reduced anxiety symptoms
Release of tension held from stress, old injuries, or emotional strain
A felt sense of "coming back into your body"
Because the technique works with your nervous system directly, some clients notice shifts that talk therapy or physical bodywork alone haven't reached — without having to relive or re-explain anything.
Who CST is Beneficial For
Craniosacral therapy tends to resonate most with people who are:
Dealing with chronic headaches, migraines, jaw tension (TMJ), or neck/shoulder tightness
Managing high stress or a nervous system that feels stuck "on"
Struggling with sleep — falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up still tired
Recovering from a concussion or past head/neck injury
Feeling emotionally "full" or overwhelmed, without a clear outlet
Curious about energy work or subtle bodywork but not ready for something intense
Looking for a complement to therapy or coaching — not a replacement, but a companion practice
What to Expect
Before Your Session
You'll fill out a brief intake so we can understand what's bringing you in — whether that's tension, stress, sleep struggles, or just curiosity. There's no need to have it all figured out beforehand.
During Your Session
Craniosacral therapy is done fully clothed, lying comfortably on a treatment table. No oils, no disrobing — just soft, still touch, usually at the head, neck, and spine. Sessions typically run about 60 minutes, and many clients find themselves drifting into a deeply relaxed, almost meditative state. It's common to feel warmth, subtle pulsing, or a sense of release in areas of held tension. Some people fall asleep. That's welcome here.
After Your Session
You may feel calm and a little floaty, or simply lighter. Some clients notice effects immediately; for others, shifts continue to unfold over the following day or two as the nervous system settles. Drinking water and giving yourself a little unscheduled time afterward can help the effects land.
Contraindications
Craniosacral therapy is gentle and generally well-tolerated, but it isn't the right fit for everyone.
Please let us know before booking if any of the following apply to you,
so we can advise whether CST is appropriate or if a modification or different modality would serve you better:
Recent skull fracture or acute head injury
Cerebral aneurysm
Recent stroke or intracranial hemorrhage
Increased intracranial pressure
Cerebrospinal fluid leak
Severe bleeding disorders or currently taking blood thinners (session may need modification)
Herniation of the medulla oblongata (Arnold-Chiari malformation)

This is not a complete medical list. If you have a health condition or are unsure whether craniosacral therapy is appropriate for you, please consult your physician before booking, or reach out and we're happy to talk it through.
